MEET THE COACHES

 


U17 Squad Coach - Tony Wilmott

Tony has been coaching for 8 years, and runs the successful Chelwood Gate Junior Badminton Club which is 'silver accredited'. Tony has coached the Sussex  U15  and  U17  squads  for 3 years,  and was `Highly Commended` in the Sussex Coach of the Year Awards 2006.  He plays for the Sussex Veterans team and is sponsored by Carlton.

U 13/15 Squad Coach - Andrew Leggat

Andrew is a strong league player and has gained his Level 2 coach qualification. Andrew also runs the Bexhill Junior Badminton Club.

U 11 Squad Coach - Martin Bilton

Martin is a strong league player who assisted with the Under 16 squad last season and is now in charge of  our new U13/15 Squad. Martin is also our Match Secretary.

Support Coaches

William Brown - William acts as cover for all the squads. William is another very experienced coach. He was a founding Director of Kent Badminton, County Junior Secretary for Kent for 12 years, managed the Kent Youth Squad and County third team, as well as coaching their U17 squad for 14 years.  Along with John, and Bruce Peapell (our former Chairman), William was one of the initial Committee members behind the Sussex Badminton Coaches Association.

Cathy Bargh - Cathy is still representing Sussex at Senior County and Veterans level. Cathy has also represented GB in International events. A very experienced player and coach has recently been added to our roster to boost our depth of coaching expertise.

Neil Warwick - Neil runs a junior club in Lewes and is currently the Sussex County junior Coach for the U 13 squad and their representative on the ESJBA committee 

Bruce Peapell - Bruce is very experienced coach, especially with junior clubs.  He is a former Chairman of both our Association and the now defunct Sussex Badminton Coaches’ Association.  In 2006 Bruce was presented an award by Sussex County Badminton in recognition of his work over the years.  Although retired, Bruce still does the occasional coaching and will be assisting our squads whenever there is a staff shortage.
